Very Important Mac OS X Update
Apple released Mac OS 10.5.6 this evening to fix a host of problems. Surprisingly Apple actually outlines them in much detail here. When reading through the list there are several things I experience regularly that I was glad to see fixed:
- Resolves n issue in which pasting text from a Microsoft Office document could insert an image rather than text
- Addresses an issue that could prevent Mail from quitting. (Just addressed? Not resolved?)
- Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on a Mac automatically sync within a minute of the change being made on the computer, another device, or the web at me.com. (Gone from not-push, to kinda push).
- Improves reliability and performance for AT&T 3G cards. (It cost me $60 a month, it better work).
- Improves Time Machine reliability with Time Capsule. (Good, it’s nice when the back up, backs up)
- Improves compatibility with web proxy servers. (Important if Facebooking from a government job).
But the one that really made me glad was:
- Improves the performance and reliability of Chess.
That’s what I was most waiting on. Improved Chess. I wonder what it’s like working in the Chess programming department…
